Air conditioning or coolers is a debate that has been going on for a long time now. Whether you live in a tropical environment or a dry one you will eventually have to take a call on either of the two. Deciding on which to get is not that hard if you know their pros and cons. Here are some of the reasons you need to focus on when choosing between Ducted air-con Sydney and coolers.
Types of cooling
Air coolers cool the air by processing hot air through them. Almost all air coolers have water stored in them. When it pulls the hot air from the surrounding it makes it pass through the water and then distributes it. This results in the released air having a lot of humidity in it. Air conditioning on the other hand uses CFLs as a coolant. CFL is generally a gas that helps in cooling the air. Hot air is passed through the outer unit and cool air is distributed through the interior unit.
Form factors
Air conditioners tend to be huge. They have two units, one interior and one exterior. Both are joined by a copper pipe which lets the air circulate. The outer unit helps in releasing the hot air outside keeping your room cold. ACs are not portable. Once you fix your AC on the wall it is there to stay. A lot of drilling and modifications to the wall is also required when you fix an AC. Coolers on the other hand tend to be smaller and more portable. They have only one unit and it can be moved from one room to another. This makes coolers very versatile in hot climates since it is easy to move according to one’s needs.
Maintenance
ACs tend to take up less maintenance compared to coolers. You just have to refill the CFL gases around once a year and you are good to go. There is no hassle behind it when you use it every day. Coolers on the other hand need more effort. Since it does not regulate its own water. You will have to make sure it is filled up with water when you turn it on. Generally around 3 to 4 litres of water is enough to cool a room. But once the water has run out you will again have to fill it up. This is a recurring process which makes coolers a little bit troublesome to deal with if you don’t have a water source near your room.
Health factors
Both ac and coolers have their own cons when it comes to their effect on health. CFLs which are used by ACs are not very good for your health. But nowadays with better CFLs coming up the harmful effects are lessened day by day. Coolers have a different problem. Since it uses water to cool the air, it releases a lot of moisture in the room causing health issues like cold and body aches. These are factors you must take into consideration when deciding between Air conditioning or coolers.
